Conservation Tech

A significant aspect of my work is developing new technologies to support environmental conservation. There are many worthwhile applications for new technology in fields like ecology, marine biology, and conservation, but these fields often have restrictive budgets and few resources for technology development.

My work in conservation technology to date has included developing acoustic-visual marine monitoring systems (U.S. Provisional Patent 2016 # 62/412,186), underwater stereo camera systems for nautical archaeology and cave mapping, photogrammetry of deep-sea creatures, and building 360° video cameras for creating immersive virtual reality of underwater ecosystems.

Technology and exploration go hand in hand and have the potential to revolutionize conservation.
